Heading Home for the Holidays?

It's that time of year once again, when families gather to celebrate the holidays. Relatives will gather from near and far, around tables laden with the family's favorite dishes.

These gatherings are a great time to talk about family history, asking questions of older relatives and sharing interesting family stories with the younger generation. Pull out the old family photos and scrapbooks, and look through them with family members. Who knows what kinds of interesting stories might unfold. Take along a few blank pedigree charts and family group sheets and ask family members to fill them in. Share some interesting bits of family history with your relatives. This would also be a great time to gather up some of those treasured family recipes and include them with your family history notes. Most of all, set aside time to enjoy your family --- after all, family history is about more than just dead ancestors!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
