TGS Library

The Topeka Genealogical Society Library offers a goldmine of resources to help you in your genealogical research. No matter what geographic area you are researching, we are likely to have relevant materials. Holdings include more than 9,500 book titles and 700 genealogical and historical periodical titles. We have strong collections of materials for Shawnee County, and much of Kansas, in addition to materials from nearly all states and some resources for researching in foreign countries.

  • Original Shawnee County Naturalization records,1865-1929
  • Original Shawnee County Probate Books,1855-1915
  • Original Abstract books from Columbian Title Company (books 1-50 are on-site and indexed, 1860 - ?)
  • Cemetery transcriptions for all Shawnee County cemeteries, except Mt. Hope
  • Topeka City Directories, most years 1884-2005
  • Complete set of the "War of the Rebellion" series
  • Index to Shawnee County marriages, 1856-1913
