Upcoming Events

The Open House at the Topeka Genealogical Society Library was held last Sunday afternoon, and we were pleased to have several folks who had never before used the library stop in and look around. Some left with interesting new information about their families! It is always gratifying to those of us who work so hard to build the library resources when we can help others find new information. For those who could not join us, you missed out on some good refreshments, and a pleasant afternoon.

Although our activity slows down a bit for the last months of the year, we do have a couple of things coming up.

Saturday, November 14th will be the next meeting of our Native American Genealogy group, from 9:30-11:30 am at the TGS Library. We will have a presentation on materials pertaining to Native Americans in the collections of the Kansas State Historical Society Research Center, and then have time to share and help one another problem-solve. This meeting is open to the public, no charge.

On Saturday, December 5th, we will offer an Internet Genealogy workshop from 9am to noon. We talk a bit about search strategies, and what might be found on the Internet, and then highlight some of the many, many Internet resources of interest to genealogists. Registration fee is $20 for TGS members, $25 for non-members.
