October is National Family History Month, first recognized in 2001 as the result of a Congressional resolution sponsored by Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah.
This year, the National Park Service is getting involved in the celebration. See their article at http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/feature/family/,
And, University of North Carolina's Documenting the American South is highlighting several slave narratives in honor of Family History Month: http://docsouth.unc.edu/highlights/familyhistory.html
TGS will be celebrating by hosting an Open House on Sunday, October 25th, 1-4pm at the library (2717 SE Indiana Ave., Topeka, KS). If you are in the area, stop in and help us celebrate!
